Oddly enough, I’m not scratching for Twitter and Facebook as much as I thought I would. I find that I can just as easily be distracted by the internet without the help of people giving me things to be distracted with. I do miss getting into conversations with people I only communicate on social networks. I also miss just being able to express my thoughts to the world whenever I like since I always get interesting feed back. But, since I have been so busy with school work, I really cannot get into socializing as much right now. One thing I do notice is that I feel less compelled to be on the internet without being on social networks. I’m ok just checking my mail every so often on my phone and otherwise I can pretty much do most of my work anywhere. I guess when I go onto social networks, I can immediately get draw to a whole lot of things I had no intention of getting involved with and it becomes a little voyeuristic and distracting from any real purpose. Maybe I will have to do some reorganizing when I get back.
Thanks for the prayers. I hope you are all doing well and that you have missed my presence too much.
God Bless
Deacon Todd
PS Do you think blogging breaks my Lenten penance?

So, I found out that two of my Catholic girlfriends from LI actually know you from your online presence – one saw a reference to you in a blog, and another follows you on twitter.
Congrats on staying away from the f/b & twitter for Lent!

Oh I know about Trista. Who’s the other one? I’m going to have to show my face at a catholic event in NYC to meet some people.
Thanks for the support.

I think blogging is distinctly different than Facebook or Twitter. My reasoning for this, is Facebook and Twitter are sort of like eating candy. You can eat it quickly, get a boost, and maybe have many more. A blog, especially the length you wrote is like eating a substantial meal, you have to chew it over, give it some thought, maybe even spell check it, it is considerably different.

I think that it is pretty clear that blogging wasn’t part of your social media fast since you pretty much fast from it always.
We miss you and are glad to see you on breaks.
